Did
Jesus set up his kingdom about 2,000 years ago?
This is
the most important question in any discussion of the possible 1,000
year reign of Jesus on earth. |
|
The
purpose of the life of Jesus!
"Jesus said, 'My
kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to
prevent my arrest by the Jews. But, now my kingdom is from another
place...Your are right in saying I am King. In
fact, for this reason I was born, and for this I came into the
world, to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of
truth listens to me.'"
John 18:36,37 |

Jesus
knew the Jews would kill him!
"He then began to teach them that the Son of Man
must
suffer many things and be
rejected
by the elders, chief priest and teachers of the law, and
that he must be killed and after three days rise again.
Mark 8:31
"It was just before the Passover Feast,
Jesus
knew that the time had come for him to leave this world
and go to the Father."
John 13:1 |
|
After
his resurrection, Jesus talked to his disciples and prepared them
for the coming of the kingdom. This Kingdom would come with power!
"After his suffering,
He showed himself to these men and gave them many convincing proofs
that He was alive. He appeared to them over a period of forty days and
spoke about the kingdom of God.
On one occasion, while he was eating with them this command.
Do
not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my father promised, which
you have heard me speak about."
Acts 1:3,4 |
|
What
happened in Jerusalem one the Day of Pentecost was prophecied in
Joel 2:28-32!
"No, this is what was
spoken by the prophet Joel."
Acts 2:16 |
|
The
kingdom would come in the lifetime of some of the people around
Jesus.
"I tell you the truth, some who are standing here will
not taste death before they see the Son of Man coming
in His kingdom."
Matthew 16:28; Mark 9:1 |
