The Promised Land
God told Abram
(Abraham) to leave Ur and go to
an unknown place. God promised Abram
all the land in this unknown place.
Genesis 15:18 describes
the Promised land as the
land between the River of Egypt and the
Euphrates River. The River of Egypt was not the
Nile River, it was the small river between the
Nile and Canaan. In Joshua 1:4 gives us
more details. The Promised land extended north
to Lebanon, south to the desert, west to the
Great Sea (Mediterranean Sea) and east to the
Euphrates River.
God kept his promise!
"And the Lord gave Israel
all the land he had sworn to give their
forefathers, and they took possession of it and
settled there. The Lord gave them rest on every
side, just as he had sworn to their forefathers.
Not one of their enemies withstood them; the
Lord handed all their enemies over to them.
Not one of all the Lords
promises to the house of Israel failed; every
one was fulfilled."
Joshua 21:43-45
