Why would Abram (Abraham) leave the city of Ur?

Abram (Abraham) was a wealthy man in Ur. Ur was an important city in a nation called Chaldea, later called Babylonia.

The people of Ur had remarkable building methods, an excellent canal system...and even had things like running water and fireplaces in homes. Beautiful art forms were common for the ruling class.

God told Abram to leave Ur and go to an unknown place.

In the middle of a place where people worshiped false gods, God found a seventy five year old man who believed and was willing to leave his home...to go to a land where he and his family would live in tents.
