Activity and Coloring pages
We are getting many requests for
Activity pages, coloring pages and crafts on specific studies.
All our activities can be found in our
Activities/Download section. They are generally built
around our Textual and Special
studies. We will do our best to point you to appropriate
pages, but we do not have the resources to develop special pages
at this time.
Our vision is to develop studies for every major character and
theme with emphasis on the Bible books. It will take some time
to cover them all. Because of the demand, we will be adding more
as quickly as possible.
Special Notice:
If you want to know how many times a
specific word is in the Bible. I will no longer answer questions
that ask how many times a specific word appears in the Bible.

What does crucified mean?
The Romans nailed a person on a cross, lifted the cross and put
it in a hole and left the one on the cross to die. The crucified
one was held on the cross by their nailed hands and feet. It
normally took about 3 days to die.

What is the Bible and why should we
read it?
The Bible is the only continuous history of God's relationship
with mankind from the beginning until the first century. It is
written by inspired men (from God) to tell the story of Jesus.
"Salvation is
found in no one else (Jesus), for there is no other name
under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”
(Acts 4:12)
The Old testament (Law of
Moses) prepares us for Jesus. When Jesus came, the Old Testament
was fulfilled and taken away. The New Testament is the history
of the life of Jesus and His church.

Where in the Bible does it say we are
to stop keeping the Sabbath on Saturday, and now worship on
Sunday? If the Bible doesn't tell us to, shouldn't we obey God
instead?
The Sabbath is an Old Testament (covenant) command (Part of the
Law of Moses) Jesus fulfilled the Old Testament (covenant).
"By calling this covenant 'new', he has
the first one obsolete, and what is obsolete; and aging will
soon disappear."

How do I get the Holy Ghost.
There is a lot of misunderstanding about the indwelling of the
Holy Spirit.
According to Acts 2: 37,38, one is given the Holy Spirit
at the point of baptism. This is the indwelling of the Holy
Spirit that helps us live holy lives. Everyone who believes and
is baptized is given this gift.
The gifts of the Holy Spirit are a different issue. In
New Testament times there was no Bible, so the Spirit gave
certain people special temporary powers like speaking in
tongues, prophesying, interpretation of prophecy, etc. to spread
and verify the truth. These gifts are listed in I Corinthians
12:7-11, and not available today.

Why did God lie to Adam and Eve? He
told them that eating from the tree of all knowledge would kill
them but it did not. Does that mean I should listen to the

God cannot lie! As long as Adam and Eve ate of the
fruit of life they would live. When the ate of the tree of
knowledge they were separated from the tree of life, could not
eat its fruit, and began to die.

How many years did Noah preach the
gospel?
Noah did not preach the gospel, he did not know of the
Gospel...he preached righteousness.
II Peter 2:5 implies Noah preach during the flood.
But, if you are asking how long he preach while building the
ark.
You can figure out how long he preached.
Noah did not have Shem, Ham and Japheth until he was 500 years
old.
When God called Noah, he already had Shem, Ham and Japheth. So,
judging from the example of Noah, who waited 500 years to have
children, it probably too Noah a while to have three sons.
Noah, and his family went into the ark when He was 600 years
old.
Shem, the oldest Son, was 100 years old 2 years after the flood.
The answer is uncertain, but figuring out the puzzle is
interesting. Unknown

What is the difference between respect
and honor from the Bible? Does one imply the other or not? How
do these affect us with those over us in regards to obedience?
Romans 13 tells us plainly to submit to the ruling
authorities. God sets up nations
and brings down nations. We are not to rebel against
authorities. (Study I Peter 2:13-17) We are to show respect to
all and honor what God has established, but...obedience is
something else:
"But Peter and John replied, 'Judge for
yourselves whether it is right in God's sight to obey you
rather than God. For we cannot help speaking about what we have
seen and heard.'"

I want to know about the Israelites.
The name of Jacob,
the son of Isaac, was change to Israel after he wrestled
with an God. Israel means "You have wrestles with God and men
and prevailed". God promised Abraham, Israel's grandfather,
that a great nation would come from his family. Israel's sons
ended up in Egypt. Israel became a great nation, were delivered
from Egypt and were given the Promised Land.
The story is told from the book of Exodus to the end of the Old
Testament (Malachi)
Jesus was an Israelite.

I have been teaching the 4's and 5's in
Sunday school. One 4 yr. was reduced to tears when we talked
about Samson killing the lion. I felt so bad that I had done
something to frighten her. Earlier in the term one little boy
commented we shouldn't do that when telling about Joshua taking
the Promised Land in battle. I explained to him why this was
done through God, etc. and the next Sunday he acted blood
thirsty, instead, and wanted to know if any people were killed
in the next battle. I said, yes. Then he was happy and said ,
yaaaaay! I hope you see my problem. The Bible's violence is
easier to explain to adults. I wonder if anyone has ever
considered the way the Bible is taught to small children or if
its updated in its choice of subject matter in relation to the
age of the child. Have you ever taught Sunday school to a group
of little ones? Probably not. It is usually women. I think some
psychology is needed here to do a better job. What do you think?
I am a mom and grandmother, but this has taken me aback and I
feel unqualified.
I have taught small children. and I was taught the
Bible stories when I was small. The reaction of your little
student is not unusual...it is the nature of boys. Maybe the
reaction of your little boy was because he is saturated by the
violence in television, movies, video games, etc. If so, this is
a parental problem. Your little girl is a sensitive soul.
Regardless of cultural circumstance, if we take all the violence
and evil out of the Bible, we have not told the real story of
the great love and judgment of God. How can we teach the most
important story in the Bible without telling our children about
the crucifixion of Jesus?
The Israelites were commanded to tell their children the
historical facts.
It is interesting that Bible writers very seldom dwell on the
violence. They state it simply and go on. The emphasis is on the
reason for violence...anger, judgment, etc.

I need help with a bible story/activity
that would be good to go along with sports for kids. Any help is
greatly appreciated.
Paul uses the example of running and boxing. In the
Olympics of his day, only the winner got the prize. All the
faithful win the victory crown.
"I do all this for the sake of the gospel,
that I may share in its blessings. Do you not know that in a
race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in
such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the
games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that
will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last
forever.
Therefore I do not
run like a man running aimlessly; I do not fight like a man
beating the air."

Since i am the religion of Hinduism...why
do you believe in this GOD?
There are many religions in the world that worship different gods.
The challenge all of us face is: How do we know which god is
the real God?
There is no god like the God of the Bible!
The God of the Bible is loving, gracious and is involved in
our lives. He is our creator and knows what is best for His
creation. He protects us by telling us what to do and not do. He
does not want any of us to be lost, and has provided a way for
us to be saved and live with Him forever. This way is Jesus,
the Son of God. Since the God of the Bible is loving, just
and absolutely fair, those who are not in Jesus will be
lost forever because of their lack of faith.
God does not expect us to have blind faith, so He has
provided His word (the Bible).
Since Jesus is the primary focus of the Bible, proving Jesus
was actually raised from the dead provides a solid basis for our
faith.
Jesus is alive?
In a few weeks we will have an in-depth 12-part study of evidences
that prove the Bible is true.

ruddy was usually an adjective used to describe complexion.

Do animals have a soul? Do animals go to
heaven? I am afraid I already know and understand what the bible
states on this, but it is just to upsetting and devastating to
believe. I am 27 and have never heard anything about this topic
until last weekend. I felt like a little child that just found
out there is no Santa or tooth fairy. Please help me to
understand. thank you
Animals are a great blessing from God designed to show his power
and nature...and to be a source of companionship, protection,
food, shelter and clothing.
"For since the creation of the world God's
invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have
been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made,
so that men are without excuse."
(Romans 1:;20)
Animals are used by God to fulfill his purposes, but they have no
soul. Animals were not created to understand matters of faith
and obedience, so they do not sin. They have no choice. They act
instinctively, not faithfully. Heaven is reserved for the family
of God who have been saved from sin through their faith and
obedience.

John 3:16 talks of believing & salvation.
Mark 16:16 talks of perishing when not believing. Why do you
join baptism with belief in salvation? Respectfully, Dave.
The answer is the conversation with Nicodemus in John 3:1-15.
Jesus tells Nicodemus that he had to be born again with water
and the Spirit. In Acts 2:38, Peter tells believers to be
baptized for the remission of sins and to receive the Spirit.
Mark 16:16 says: "Whoever believes and
is baptized will be saved." If a person does not believe,
there is no desire to be baptized. According to Acts 2:38, we
get forgiveness of sins at the point of baptism. In Acts
8:26-39 Philip taught the gospel to the Ethiopian. Baptism was
obviously part of the gospel because the Ethiopian (a believer)
asked to be baptized.

Bible story of Obedience found in Romans 13:1-5 ?

Romans 13:1-5 is a great study of the power of God over
nations...and our relationship with good or bad governments. The
story of Peter and John in Acts 4 shows us that we must do what
is right regardless of what those in authority, but never with a
rebellious
spirit.

When Jesus comes back will there be a new

We will no longer live in a physical world. The second

"After that, we who are still alive and are
left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet

Jesus deals with this issue in Mark 12:18-27.

Do you believe that God speaks to us
through the Holy Spirit? Or do you believe that we are to get
our instruction solely from the word of God?
Both! The Holy Spirit speaks to us through the words written by
the Bible writers. Truth is found in the words written.
"All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful
for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in
righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly
equipped for
every good work."
(II Timothy 3:16,17)
"But even if we or an angel from heaven
should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you,
let him be eternally condemned! As we have already said, so now
I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than
what you accepted, let him be eternally condemned!"

Why did Jesus raise Lazarus from the
dead?
To prove his power over death.
What did Jesus do to show he loves and
cares for as he did Lazarus?
He died so that we can be saved and be raised from
spiritual death.
"For don't you know that all of us who were
baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were
therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order
that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory
of the Father, we too may live a new life.
If we have been united with him
like this in his death, we will certainly also be united with
him in his resurrection.
(Romans 6:2-4)

Who is the Spirit?
The Holy Spirit is part of what is called the Godhead.
"When the Counselor comes, whom I will send
to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who goes out
from the Father, he will testify about me. And you also must
testify, for you have been with me from the beginning."

Paul and Barnabas were involved in the council at Jerusalem. They
were sent from Jerusalem to Antioch to help resolve the issue of

Uncle Noah, Is there a woman in the Bible
called Apple? Or is Apple mentioned in other part of the Bible
besides The Garden of Eden?
Actually the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil was
not an apple. The Bible does not tell us the kind of fruit it
was.
There is no woman named Apple in the Bible, but a woman is
described figuratively in Song of Solomon.

How do I teach on the 7th commandment to
younger children.
It depends on what younger children means to you.
Unfortunately, very young children are exposed to the issue of
adultery. In my view the best way is to teach the general
Biblical relationship between a husband and wife...starting with
Genesis 2:24.
Our study of
God's design for sex
will help, but it is up to
the teacher to decide how much to tell very young children about
the marriage relationship.

Where did the Bible come from?
The Bible is a collection of 66 books written by 40 different
authors over a period of about 1,600 years. The books of the Old
Testament were selected with 2 questions:
1. Was the book written by a person to whom God had spoken.
2. Was it recognized to be from God.
The books of the New Testament were chosen by 5 rules:
1. They were known to be from God.
2. They were written by an apostle or prophet of God.
3. They could be proven to be genuine.
4. They had the ability to change people lives.
5. They were used by the early church.

Needing spiritual armor.
We have not yet finished material on the book of Ephesians,
but it will be completed by August 1.
A study of the armor of God is found in Ephesians 6:10-20.
Here is some information that should help.
God provides all we need to resist the temptations of the
Devil.
Each piece of the armor has a protective function. (verse
14-18)
Belt (righteousness)- protects vital organs.
Boots (readiness)- protects our ability to go.
Shield (faith)- deflects whatever the enemy throws at us.
Helmet (salvation)- protect the mind...because of our faith
and assurance.
The sword of the Spirit is our offensive weapon (the
word of God)- The power.
Prayer is both offensive and defensive.
Be alert!

Does
God expect a woman to continue being married to a man after he
beats her?
This answer is provided by a trained counselor.
Thank
you for you question. Although I do not know the particulars
related to your question, I do know the at in Ephesians 5:28 God
instructs men to love their wives as they would love their own
bodies. The Lord wants husbands to treat their wives with love
and consideration. In Romans chapter 13 we see that God
has appointed the government to protect people. Women have
rights under the government and beating another person is a
breaking of the law. In 1 Corinthians 7:11 we see that God
allows couples to separate although it is His desire that they
reconcile and try to work things out. The problems in a
marriage are often complicated and yet we can be active in
prayer that they Lord will touch the hearts of all concerned.

Tell you students that when they do something they are
slaves.
"Slaves, obey your
earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of
heart, just as you would obey Christ. Obey them not only to win
their favor when their eye is on you, but like slaves of Christ,
doing the will of God from your heart. Serve wholeheartedly,
as if you were serving the Lord, not men, because you know
that the Lord will reward everyone for whatever good he does,
whether he is slave or free."

false teachers...do you have any ideas for activities?
Turn your class into Bereans. (Acts 17:11)
Tell your students you are going to teach a story with one
wrong fact. Tell them the story and have them tell you the wrong
fact.
Break your students into small groups and have them tell a story
with one wrong fact. This will force them to make sure every
other fact is correct. The one wrong fact should be very tricky.
Follow this up with verses like.
Galatians 1:8,9 and II Corinthians 11:14.

I was just wondering, at what age is it
right to give away your most treasured gift? I am only 12 years
of age, yet, I am having urges toward living objects. Please
help me... I am having a lot of trouble controlling these urges.
yours sincerely.
Every person has urges. Controlling urges is part of living,
created by God.
You might have an urge to jump off a 20 story building. You would
not do it...because it is not good for your life situation. You
might have the urge to pick up red-hot piece of metal. But, you
know it is not in your best interest.
Urges are to be used in God's purpose in the marriage
relationship (one man and one woman)...and not before
marriage.
There is one other issue that is very important:
It is not healthy for a person of any age to look at, listen too
and read about these things. Television, movies, modern music,
magazines, etc. are full of tempting things. Avoid them!
Talk to your parents.

I just read in the Bible from Matthew
6:3, how do I explain to my 4 years old daughter about this
quote?
Explain it in the context of verses 1-4. Don't go around bragging
about good things done.
"Be careful not to do your 'acts of
righteousness' before men, to be seen by them. If you do, you
will have no reward from your Father in heaven. So when you give
to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the
hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be
honored by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their
reward in full. But when you give to the needy, do not let
your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that
your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is
done in secret, will reward you.

The Bible is the only source of the truth of God revealed to us.
God does not ask us to have blind belief, so he has given us
more than enough evidence to believe.

"Who, being in very nature God, did not
consider equality with God something to be grasped (held on to),
but made himself nothing, taking the very nature off

death— even death on a cross!

My sons are 12 and 14 years old. Although
we have attended church, but not on a regular basis, they were
never involved in any church activities or studies of the Bible.
They do know certain parts of the Bible, but not in full detail.
Where would you suggest I begin when introducing Bible studies
to them as at this age? Should I begin with the Creation?
It depends on whether creation is an issue in their
lives (school, etc.) If they are not sure, we have a section on
creation.
Creation/Evolution
Evolution is an issue in schools. They can go to our
creationevolution.org site for scientific and logical
consideration.
There is something about learning the Bible stories that give
young people a sense of the power and glory of God.
I would suggest you have them begin with our study of Genesis.

Praise God for your biblical answers to
people's questions! But...occasionally your answers seem more to
reflect modern American Protestantism than what Scripture
actually says. One example would be your statement that children
are not born sinful. But David puts it very clearly in Psalm
51:5: "Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my
mother conceived me." As descendants of Adam, we have all
inherited our sinful nature, from birth. But that's not the end
of the story. "Just as the result of one trespass was
condemnation for all people, SO ALSO the result of one act of
righteousness was justification that brings life for all men."
Thanks be to God, through Jesus Christ our Lord!
I wish you were right. Unfortunately, the concept of original
sin is engrained in Protestantism all over the world. You
are right, sin came through one man...and salvation comes
through one man (Jesus). If you understood me to say children do
no wrong, I apologize. The issue is not whether children do
wrong...the issue is whether the child is guilty and condemned
for doing wrong.
If we believe every wrong thing a child does (without any
awareness of right and wrong) means the child is condemned, we
face some serious theological difficulties.
In Romans I :20, Paul makes an interesting statement:
"For since the creation of the world God's
invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have
been
clearly seen, being understood from what has been
made, so that men are without excuse."
Paul uses the argument that God has given us
understandable evidence that He exists...and there is not
excuse not to believe in Him. But, we have a problem: Nature
does not reveal Jesus, the only Savior. (Acts 4:12)
Salvation depends on understanding the Word of God (the
Bible). Small children cannot read or comprehend the concept
that sin separates sinners from God. Salvation depends on
believing
that Jesus is the only solution to the sin problem. A small child
does not understand there is a problem, so to the child there is
no solution needed. God expects repentance and obedience. A
small child has no concept of these big religious words.
It seems unreasonable that God (the creator of each child) would
condemn His creation when it is impossible to understand what
God requires for reconciliation.
At some point in a child's life there is understanding...and guilt
kicks in. At this point belief and obedience are necessary.

Why do you say that people should not be
forced to keep Sabbath? No one is forcing any one. But it will
be a law to keep Sunday!
Noone is being forced to assembling with other Christians on
Sunday. We have the choice to obey God or not.
The difference in the Sabbath and Sunday is simple. The Sabbath is
an Old Testament concept. The Old Law has been taken away and we
live under a the new system. The old law is no longer binding.

How important was the crucifixion of
Jesus to Christians?
"Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called to
be an apostle and set apart for the gospel of God— the gospel he
promised beforehand through his prophets in the Holy Scriptures
regarding his Son, who as to his human nature was a descendant
of David, and who through the Spirit of holiness was declared
with power to be the Son of God by his resurrection from the
dead: Jesus Christ our Lord. Through him and for his name's
sake, we received grace and apostleship to call people from
among all the Gentiles to the obedience that comes from faith."
(Romans 1:1-5)

What does it mean.....where two or more
