You have said it well. What I think makes no difference! Your statement sounds compassionate and reasonable, but you have one major problem...you cannot have the teachings of Jesus without the judgment of God.

God made us in His spiritual image...with the ability to reason, to make choices. He does not desire robotic-like followers. He wants people to love Him for what He is, not because we have no choice. Compassion is not letting us do things that will hurt and destroy us. He offers us the abundant life and provides all the evidence we need to accept his love and grace.

He tells us plainly what will happen if we choose not to accept his gift. But, it is our choice. We can accept His gift, or pay the consequence.

Why is the eternal punishment of Hell ever reasonable or just? I mean for example if I had a dog, and I loved it with all my heart and provided it with a good life, yet the dog rejected my love, bite me, destroyed my property and caused me nothing but trouble, the worst any human would do is to have the dog put down, and you would do that with a sad heart. You would never even dream of finding someway to torture the dog forever and ever.. I mean human beings have to be infinitely less compassionate then God right? Sorry, I'm trying to make sense of Hell, does the Bible give us any clues?
The difference is that a dog does not know the difference between right and wrong. You and I are the difference. Instinctively, we know it is wrong to murder, steal, destroy property and cause nothing but trouble. If we insist on doing these things, we are rebelling against the laws of the land...and if caught, will pay the penalty for our actions. Sometimes, the penalty is death! Since God is the source of this understanding, is it unreasonable for God to demand the same justice?
But, before this justice, God has provided a way for all this nothing-but-trouble to be forgiven...even when the forgiveness is not deserved.

Governments do not judge the world. They are established by God and serve as agents of God's wrath. (Romans 13:1-7)

This is what offends me the most. I can tell by the writing that you want him to believe what you said, despite the fact that you told him to go ahead and believe what he believes. To me that is basically saying "Be guilty from now until you believe what I am saying". But again, that's just what I believe.

If you read carefully, I did not answer the second question. I challenged the writer to explain specific Bible verses. I did not tell him/her to keep on believing his/her theory on the second part of the statement.

If your friend wants a special prayer for blessing on her home, it is okay...and commendable. It is another thing to have a special pastoral ritual to protect her home from evil spirits. There is no Biblical authority for this kind of ritualistic intervention.
The controversy over evil spirits is not whether they exist...they do. The question is whether evil spirits have the power to possess Christians. They do not have power over faithful Christians. We are protected by the blood of Jesus...because of our faith.

Salvation is a matter of our faith. It would be unfair, and unjust for God to decide before my birth...Uncle Noah will have no choice in the matter, he cannot go to heaven.
There is a group of people who are predestined to be saved. (Ephesians 1:5) They were first called Christians in the city of Antioch. (Acts 11:26)
Some individuals are chosen by God, before their birth to have a specific part in His plan through the ages. A few examples are: Samson (I Samuel 1), Cyrus (II Chronicles 36:22), John the Baptist (Luke 1).

God has given all of us the free-will to make our own decisions. Fighting is always 2-sided. Blaming God is not the solution. This is between two persons who are out of control. You can be in control by praying...and loving them both, in spite of their actions.

The story is in Acts 5. Ananias and Sapphira agreed on the deception. Peter said they had lied to the Holy Spirit. God used them as an example that He expects us to live truthful, faithful lives.
A similar story is found in Joshua 7. Achan was motivated by greed, just like Ananias and Sapphira. He took things that were devoted to God. God used him as an example.

If you read certain Bible stories especially the Creation story as allegories (told by God via the Biblical authors in order to make a point or reflect the progression of human history in a simple way all people could understand?) rather than historical fact, does that mean in your view you are not a true Christian or truly saved?

Salvation is not based on how you read the book of Genesis. It is based on how you look at, and respond to Jesus. Since Jesus (God) is the creator of the world (John 1:1-10 and Colossians 1:16), it would seem to be necessary to believe the account of Genesis is true.
"By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God's command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible."
(Hebrews 11:3)
The question you must ask yourself is: Why would I want to believe the creation story of the Bible is not true?
It is your choice to believe in the unproven, senseless theory of evolution, which is the only reason to believe the creation account of Genesis is not true...but do not try to sooth your conscience with unfounded compromises. If you do, you will have to face your God and call him a liar...because of what you can read for yourself in Exodus 20:11.

I would not want to face my Lord in judgment...and tell him I really don't believe you made the world like you said.

The only time fools and children are found together in the Bible is in Jeremiah 4:21-23. The people are called fools and children and God is on the edge of punishing them.
The challenge we face is how does God take care of us. Children are often abused and diseased. If they die they go to be with the Lord...which is far better.
If you refer to mentally challenges individuals as fools...they are in the same condition as children.
At some point, children and fools may understand the concept of sin and their secure position before God is changed. When they do, they are responsible for their actions just like we are...and must do something about their sin.
If you refer to a fool as an intelligent but rebellious unbelievers, God eventually will turn them over to their own foolishness.

All your questions do not change the fact that the Bible specifically says governments are established by God and function as agents of the wrath of God. (Romans 13:1-7) How God uses governments is His business. Pharaoh was used by God to deliver the Israelites. Nebuchanezzar was used by God to enslave the Israelites. We do not have to understand!

Why did God kill so many innocent Israelites because King David took a census? What's wrong with a census? Also, why were people punished who did nothing wrong? Since it was David who took the census, not the people.
God was angry with the people and told David to take a census of Judah and Israel. David did not take a full census like God commanded. He took a census of his military power. (II Samuel 24) We know that at least some of the people knew what David was doing was wrong because Joab warned David about his actions. In v. 10, David realized he had made a mistake.
We assume the people were innocent. They were not! They were rebellious...and often idolatrous. God was very patient with Israel.

God created man in the image of God...male and female he created them. Man (men and women) lived a long time without Raybans...before there was a Biblical Israel. We can live without Raybans, but how do we explain the image of God being both male and female.
If you are really interested, the answer is simple: God is spirit. God created physical men and women...so the Bible cannot be talking about physical appearances. It is talking about the spiritual ability to think, be creative, love, make choices, etc. This makes us spiritual...different from all the animals.

We do know there was an 18 inch space between the 3 floors and the roof, a door and one window. Other than that you have to assume there were no other openings.

My good friend, a scientist at Texas Tech University, said the Bible cannot be accepted by science because the dimensions of the ark were far too small to hold the animals of that time. What should I tell him?
This is a good question that comes up regularly. God does not expect us to have blind faith, so have your friend do the math.
The Bible tells us there was at least one pair of all the land animals in the ark. Most of these animals are very small, and it would make sense to take young, healthy animals so they
would live longer after the flood.
The ark had about 1,396,000 square feet of space which is equal to 522 standard railroad box cars. There are roughly 18,000 species of modern land animals and many extinct species, so
the ark had to hold about 40,000-45,000 animals.
These animals could easily be put into 170 railroad cars, leaving 352 cars to store all the necessary food for Noah, his family and all the animals. This gave Noah a lot of room to wiggle...and gives us a lot of room to haggle over the animal figures.
Much of this information comes from The Genesis Flood, by Whitcomb and Morris.
It is interesting that mankind did not eat animals until after the flood.

There are two kinds of Bibles available. One is a translation, the other is a transliteration.
A translation is when a group of original-language scholars study the Greek manuscripts and agree on the original meaning.
A transliteration is when a person or group takes a translation and puts it in his/her own words.
Look at the credits in any version. Avoid transliterations. They must be used only as commentaries (opinion), but should not be used for any final doctrine.
The King James version is good, but difficult to understand because of the language. The American Standard, New American Standard and New International are good. I do not know about other translations.

My answer will be considered politically incorrect. But, what I think means nothing. What the Bible says is our guide. Our open challenge is to do what the Bereans did:
"Now the Bereans were of more noble character than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true."

There are basically 2 issues:
1. There is only one way to become a Christian.
A person must believe, repent and be baptized in water...for the forgiveness of sins. We are baptized into Jesus. All the baptized were added to the church. (Acts 2:38-47)
Some say this is narrow minded and judgmental...and it does go against what most groups teach. Our challenge is to check our beliefs with what the Bible says. If we are going to challenge this position...these challenges must be directed toward the Bible writers. I am merely a messenger.

2. Are we looking for a group of Christians...or a group that is Christian in name only?
A church is just a group of saved people called out to serve God in a specific location. If any called out group teaches a different gospel, how can it be the New Testament church? The most common different salvation is that all I have to do is Ask Jesus into my heart. This is not the gospel taught by the New Testament writers.

I want to be as respectful as I can...but something I read here, bothers me. Am I right in thinking you think that if we sin again...that we can loose our salvation? If that is what you think...then I feel as if you are wrong. If you have to ask for forgiveness and have to ask Jesus into our hearts because we have backslid, then Jesus would have had to die more than once for our sins. Let alone...he died for our sins LONG before we were even born...so He died for ALL future sins. What I say is not important. All of us have to wrestle with What the Bible says...not our opinions.
The issue is not whether we sin. According to Romans 3:23 all of us sin and fall short of the glory of God. The question is our trust in the blood of Jesus to continually forgive our sins...based on our faith.
There are some small, but important words written to Christians we must consider. These words are qualifiers!
"But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.
(I John 1:7)
The if (qualifier) of purification is walking in the light. If we are walking in the light, and confess our sins (v. 9)...our sins are forgiven. When we walk in the light, we are aware of our sins and continually confess them.
What happens if we are not walking in the light?
I must say this as kindly as I know how. A person can be saved and lose his/her secure position in Christ.
"
Therefore, dear friends, since you already know this, be on your guard so that you may not be carried away by the error of lawless men and fall from your secure position."
(II Timothy 3:17)
If I fall from my secure position...I am no longer secure! I am lost...another small, but important word.

Unfortunately, the doctrine of just asking for salvation is popular. The truth is...a person is not saved by merely asking Jesus into his/her heart!
A person is baptized into Christ...another one of those small, but important words. A person cannot be baptized into something they are already in.

I am a christian of the Baptist faith, and respectfully disagree with your statement that one must be baptized. John 3:16 states that WHOSEVER BELIEVETH IN HIM. Ephesians 2:8 states that "by grace are ye saved through faith". Nowhere does it state that if you are not baptized you are not saved. Many go through the motions of baptism and still are lost sinners. I firmly believe that you cannot lose your salvation. If one is alienated from Christ, they were never saved to begin with.

A person is baptized into Christ. The church is the spiritual body of Christ.

I have just recently started going back to church after a long absence. I want to obey God in all things but am having trouble with the tithe. My husband is not saved and does not agree with giving any money to church. (It is this conflict that stopped me from staying in church before) I have prayed about this and feel my answer has been to obey God first. So now since God wants me to give my question is who do I give my tithe to? Giving to the church would probably create a divorce in my marriage which would greatly upset me because I love my husband. I have had an idea of giving into a savings account for my grandson with the hope that he will someday use it to promote the word of God. I've also thought of tithing to my mother's checking account who could use it to stay out of a nursing home. I know this may seem like a silly question to you but I really want to follow God completely this time around and do all things right. Tithing is an Old Testament concept. Ten percent was to be given to the priests to maintain the temple, etc. The Old Testament is no longer binding on the people of God. The New Testament standard is higher...giving because of our appreciation for what God has done for us, and the needs of others.
We have the mistaken idea that we have to give to the collection of the church. God is interested in your generosity...not the destination of our gift. We give as we see need!
Giving to your mother is very good. The Pharisees were condemned because they obeyed the tithing law, but did not take care of their parents.

The first thing to do is pray every day specifically for your relationship with your mom...and ask God to bless your mom. It is very difficult to have a bad relationship with someone you are faithfully praying for.
After you have prayed for a week or two, go talk to your mom...and pray with her.

Let me answer the last part of your question first. The Bible does not say God is supposed to forgive everyone. Forgiveness comes through the sacrifice of Jesus...to those who believe in him.

Belief is another issue.
God gave the people of the world plenty of time to repent...and they would not. God has great patience, but his patience does not last forever. The flood was not the only time his patience ended.
Because of the flood we can see God's mercy on the believers and see many amazing evidences of the creative genius of God. Every time we see a rainbow, we are reminded of his power and promises.
The flood should be a powerful demonstration of what happens when people rebel against God, but history alone is not a very good teacher.

Why the Bible is parted as Old and New Testament?
The Old Testament is how God works through people (primarily the Israelites) to show us his love, power, justice and purpose. This is wrapped up in the Law of Moses. God's purpose is to save us through the sacrifice of Jesus. The Old Testament story lasts until Jesus was born.
The New Testament reveals God's New Covenant with believers...based on the last will and testament of Jesus. At the beginning of the New Testament we find the life, teaching, death and resurrection of Jesus. The rest of the New Testament shows us the purpose and life of the church which is described as the body of Christ Jesus on earth (the kingdom of God on earth).
This is only a brief overview. We cannot really understand this until we study the Bible.

This is a difficult question. I do not pretend to understand the mind of God in this matter. God does have a purpose for our lives, but does not plan out our lives. We have the choice to accept or reject His will...because He has given us free-will. We have the choice to do anything we want to do. But, we have to accept the consequences of our actions.
We do know that God is all-powerful and all-knowing. We also know that God works all things for the good of his people. We do know that God knows that certain individuals will do certain things in the future.
How he does all this, we do not know!

How come bad things happen?
A good reference is the book of Job. When we read the first two chapters of Job we can see what happened between God and Satan. It would be foolish of me to try to explain why God does what He does! God didn't even tell Job the reason for all his trouble. 
We do know that God set limits on what Satan could do, and personal trouble does not mean one has been rejected by God.
We also know that God wants everyone to come to be saved.

Sometimes suffering is the judgment of God.

As far as I know this is the only time it is recorded that Jesus read publicly. It was scripture. The most important books we will read are the 66 books of the Bible.

I am really confused about how to interpret Romans 9:1-18 year old. Can you help me?
In the first 5 verses, Paul is just expressing his deep concern for his fellow Jews.
Verses 6-18 is a bold statement about the absolute sovereignty of God. God does not make mistakes.
Being the person of God is measured by faith and obedience...not name. Many were Jews by blood...not by faith.
Verse 14,15 explains God's choices: "
What then shall we say? Is God unjust? Not at all! For he says to Moses, 'I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.'"
Verse 18 explains God's mercy and lack of mercy: "Therefore God has mercy on whom he wants to have mercy, and he hardens whom he wants to harden."
In Romans 1:24-23 we get a glimpse of God's heart. God does not want anyone to be lost, but at some point, God give sinners over to do whatever they want.
One reason for the Old Testament is to show us what not to do.
"These things happened to them as examples and were written down as warnings for us, on whom the fulfillment of the ages has come."

The death of Jesus is an important part of our faith. What our young people are hearing about it in the media, movies, etc. is not always true, so we need to tell our young people the truth. Just tell it like the Bible tells it...as a matter of fact. It does not have to be a "sensational" story...but the emphasis must be on the purpose and reality of the death of Jesus.

All we know is that Jesus was about 2 years old when King Herod ordered the baby boys killed. Joseph went to Egypt to escape from Herod's attempt to kill Jesus. When Herod died they moved back and lived in Nazareth. In Luke 41-51 we read the story of when Jesus was 12 years old. His family was living in Nazareth at the time. Herod died before Jesus was 12 years old.

The sword of the Spirit is our offensive weapon (the word of God)- The power.

I teach children's church. I was teaching on Noah's ark. I talked about Noah being the only man on earth to have favor with God. It somehow led into lessons on the second coming and being ready. If a person wants a city to be seen, it is put on a hill...and cannot be hidden. The purpose of light is to remove darkness. Light and darkness cannot exist together. Any amount of light pushes away darkness. If we can provide light, it is not good to hide the light.
God wants his people to share the light they have found in Jesus. We do this by doing what God wants us to do. When others see this light they see God.

Our challenge is to teach the truth. The response is up to those being taught.
We approach Muslims just like we do any other person. We must establish that Jesus is not just a good prophet, he was the Son of God...who came to earth, lived a sinless life and died for the sins of the world. He lived, died and was resurrected from the dead. Without the resurrection, the rest is just another story.

If all the people who have told you your experience was from God can show you Biblically that it was from God...your sorting out is over.
And, you have introduced another issue that makes this situation more interesting. At the time you were "so filled with the Holy Spirit". This is an interesting fact to leave out.

The real challenge in this whole matter is not whether you had an experience or not. The question is: Did your experience clear up your questions...or cause more questions. Did it make you rely on the Word of God more...or on your feelings more.

This is a great idea.
Reinforce it with the fact that Jesus had reason to be angry because of the way He was treated, and He did not retaliate. Anger is not always bad. Jesus was angry in John 2:15, but it was because of how the Jews were mistreating his Father's house. Have them put something about the reaction of Jesus in their box...on a different color of paper.
Give them a business card with Romans 8:28 on it to carry with them.

Godly fear is not bad! It is a God-given response to danger.

The point is not that Jesus was in the belly of a big fish. He was! The point is that in the original text, he was in the belly of a large fish...not a whale. To some, the use of use of the word whale if proof that the Bible is incorrect...because a whale is a mammal, to a fish.

Salt flavors, purifies, heals and preserves. By living Godly lives, we do the same.
If a person wants a city to be seen, it is put on a hill...and cannot be hidden. The purpose of light is to remove darkness. Light and darkness cannot exist together. Any amount of light pushes away darkness. If we can provide light, it is not good to hide the light.
God wants his people to share the light they have found in Jesus. We do this by doing what God wants us to do. When others see this light they see God.

Being born again is connected to our response...belief.

The only other reference to being born again is found in I Peter 1:22,23.

How do we become pure through the water and Spirit.

This is a very important question.
The Bible gives us the pattern for the church. In the original language (Greek), the word is tupos. Tupos is the idea of pouring hot metal into a mold. You get the same image every time.
"But thanks be to God that, though you used to be slaves to sin, you wholeheartedly obeyed the form (tupos) of teaching to which you were entrusted."
(Romans 6:17)

Paul makes it plain in Galatians 1:8:

The special Feast of Passover was included in the Mosaic Law (Old Testament). (Leviticus 23)
The Mosaic law was fulfilled and taken away when Jesus died to establish the law of Grace. It does not apply to us today.
The new Passover is the Lord's Supper. We remember Jesus, the Passover Lamb that was sacrificed for our sins.
