Agape love is a central theme of the Bible. Agape love is not the love between a husband and wife, or the relationship between good friends. It is the genuine concern about the welfare of a person.
I Corinthians 13 is the classic scripture about agape love. It defines what it is and what it is not.
One concept was left out of your list- love your enemies. (Luke 6:27-35) The stories of Jesus (Luke 23:34) and Stephen (Acts 6:60) are pure examples.
Another practical application of love is found in the story of the good Samaritan. Go to our study in Luke 10.

It is part of the fruit of the Spirit. This is an interesting concept. According to Acts 2:38 a person gets the gift of the Spirit (the indwelling of the Spirit). (Romans 8:9) If one does not have the Spirit, can one have true self-control.

I Corinthians 13 is the classic scripture about agape love. It defines what it is and what it is not.
John 3:16 is actually a great reference for love...but it is primarily the love of God for us. I John 3:16 defines our love for God and others. (read through verse 20)

We cannot understand the idea of eternity...no beginning and no end. Human language is not adequate to explain God.
We have faith because of what God has revealed...His word (Bible) and nature.

Crucifixion was reserved for the worst of criminals, but Jesus was innocent. All he wanted to do was help them. He asked God to forgive them for their ignorance.

We do not yet have actual study guides for our studies, but many are using the natural outlines that are included in our material.
I do not know what your young people know, but the most important thing to teach young people is the actual historical facts we call Bible stories. The most important factor is that everything historically in the Old Testament is about Jesus coming. The first mention of this is found in the promise to Eve after the fall. We learn faith, obedience, trust, etc. in the stories.
Go to our Understanding the Bible section to incorporate these ideas.
'Before this faith came, we were held prisoners by the law, locked up until faith should be revealed. So the law was put in charge to lead us to Christ that we might be justified by faith. Now that faith has come, we are no longer under the supervision of the law. You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus,"

I need a children's sermon on The Great Commission. The scriptures we're using includes Matthew 28:16-20; I Corinthians 12:4-9 and Ephesians 4:11-16. Any suggestions.
I Corinthians 12 is not a reference to going out to teach the lost. It is dealing with internal  problems in the Corinthian church. They were abusing the Lord's Supper and misusing spiritual gifts.
In Ephesians 4 Paul is reminding Christians that there are different functions in the church. Some of the early Christians were given the gift of evangelism. Paul, Barnabas, Peter, Philip and Steven are examples. 
Matthew 28:18-20 is the charge of Jesus to his disciples.
Evangelism is a personal expression of our love for God.
"But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of him. For we are to God the aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing. To the one we are the smell of death; to the other, the fragrance of life. And who is equal to such a task?

This is a very straight-forward, needed perspective on discipleship. Many times it is thought that following Jesus means everything is going to be easy and trouble free. The challenge is to get the concept across without fear.

His story is found in II Kings 21-24. He became king at 8 years old. He was one of the good kings on Judah. The law of God was uncovered in his reign and he reformed the worship of God in Judah.

I am assuming you mean 0-18 months. Otherwise you are asking something that cannot be handle in this forum. I don't think the shield of faith is something young children will understand, so the best thing to do is just use the theme of protection...with very simple examples like a backstop that protects one from flying balls, etc.

I will be teaching children's church 3rd-5th grade for the first time and have to teach on stewardship along with Matthew 23:37 and I need some fun ideas.
This scripture is showing the results of bad stewardship. The question seems to be: What will you do with the talents and possessions you have?
It might be good to set up situations for your students. Divide up in teams and ask them questions like...What would you do if someone gave you $1,000.  Then ask the teams to search the New Testament and find out about possessions and giving. Each member of the team would have to decide what he/she would do personally.

So the word of God spread. The number of disciples in Jerusalem increased rapidly, and a large number of priests became obedient to the faith."
This is a powerful example of when there is trouble, take action and solve the problem. It is also a great example of leadership. The Apostles knew that if they got involved in the day-to-day situations, the work of prayer and teaching would be neglected. They also knew that there were good men in the church that could do the job well.
These seven men were probably the first deacons (servants) in the church.

Women are to dress modestly. Modesty is dressing in such a way as not to attract attention to themselves...including sexuality. Braided hair and gold was to show wealth and position. In the church all are equal regardless of the wealth or position. 
"A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent. For Adam was formed first, then Eve. And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner."
This concept is very unpopular in our modern world, but it has nothing to do with a man being better than a woman. It is the different roles that God has assigned for men and women.
"But women will be saved through childbearing—if they continue in faith, love and holiness with propriety."
Childbearing is a reference to the duties of motherhood.

Meekness is not weakness. Meekness is demonstrated when a person has the power to do something and refuses to use it because it is not useful.
Study the life of Moses. He was considered the meekest man living in his time.

How do you explain "all have sinned" to young children on a bus?
It depends on the age of the children. If you are in a bus-ministry, many of your children will not know much, so I suggest you explain it in a simple statement like "We all do things wrong". 
Remember Romans 3:22-24 is written in the context of the church. This concept is often difficult for adults to understand.

The Biblical examples of meekness are based on the power of God working...not personal strength.
Moses was said to be the meekest man of his time (Exodus 12:3), but he stood against Pharaoh, the strongest ruler of his time. (Exodus 6-11)
Jesus had the power to do whatever he wanted. He did not...because he had a purpose.

I am looking for some scriptures and a way to encourage my 7 and 11 year old to want to be baptized.
Teach them who Jesus is and why he was crucified. Make sure baptism is part of the lesson, but do not put undue emphasis on baptism. Many young people are baptized because their friends are being baptized.

I am teaching 1st and 2nd graders and our class is struggling with listening to each other and to the teacher and being nice to one another. I was thinking of teaching them about self-control. How else can I teach them to listen and behave and have fun at the same time.
The goal is to challenge young people, not to make sure they have fun. Fun is good, and should be part of the class, but fun is visiting with friends and acting silly. 
Since you only have these children for a few minutes in their week, it is difficult to have a significant impact on self-control without some form of gentle forced-control.
If possible, get a co-teacher. If it is not practical, have some of your student's parents sit in on your classes from time to time.
Since kids love stories and activities include corporate and individual challenges in your class.

The best real life story is the context...Adam and Jesus.
Adam's problem was not what he knew...it was the choice he made. He knew the fruit of the tree of Knowledge was not to be eaten. He did it anyway! There is one point that is not mentioned much. When Adam and Eve were banned from the Garden, they no long had access to the tree of life. Without it, they died!
Jesus knew his purpose in life was to die. His choice was to die. The explanation is in the next few verses (Romans 6). Through Jesus we have new life.
Romans 6:3,4 explains our tree of life...Jesus.

A good place to start is in Romans 12:1-2.

Take some regular pieces of construction paper and have the children draw around their feet and cut out their prints. Jonathan and David had a special relationship...like father/son, brother/brother, etc. Jonathan was the son of King Saul, but knew his father was sometimes very angry with David for no good reason. They were such good friends that Jonathan decide to protect David.

This is a wonderful thing you are doing, but it is very difficult for experienced teachers to teach such a wide span of ages. The younger students get restless because they do not fully understand and the older students get bored in the material is not taught on their level. You approach the two levels in different ways.
I recommend you decide to teach the younger (7, 8 year olds) or the older group. You might find another person to take one or the other.

The first thing that comes to mind is not so much how we act, but what we give. The first gift is found in Romans 12:1,2.

Galatians 5:19-26 gives us a list of things to avoid (fruits of the flesh) and to develop in our lives (fruit of the Spirit). It is important to note that the list mentioned is the fruit that comes from the Spirit. This is not a discussion of Special Spiritual Gifts.

Young people need to learn to exercise. We exercise to make our bodies more attractive. We need to exercise our souls by testing our Bible knowledge and application. Have your students make reports on Bible issues. Break them up into groups and have them test themselves against themselves.

You have a difficult situation...combining non-readers and readers. If you study at the level of the non-readers you lose the readers. So you have to teach at the level of your readers.
The book of Genesis is always a good place to start. There are many good stories in Genesis.
Let your older students help you by studying the material in our study of Genesis and telling the younger students the stories. If they have computers, they can actually use some of the animation and activities.

Be as simple as possible. Start with Jesus establishing the Lord's Supper? (Luke 22:14-22) It is a simple, personal way for believers to remember the sacrifice of Jesus.
Three important facts:
1. It is personal for believers. Another person cannot do it for you.
2. It is done to remember the death (sacrifice) of Jesus
3. The bread represents the sacrifice of the body of Jesus. The grape juice represents the blood of Jesus.

I am teaching the 4-5 year old class at church the next two Sunday nights. We rotate teachers every 2 weeks and have decided to start at Genesis and work our way through the Bible. My first two classes I have to teach on Leviticus. This seems to be a book that is too much for such a young crowd. Do you have any suggestions on what to teach on this book to that age group?
My favorite way to teach young children is to make sure they understand the stories of the Bible. If they know the facts, when they get older the applications make sense. 
Leviticus is basically what God says about sacrifices. The most famous story in this book is found in the first 2 verses in chapter ten. Nadab and Abihu were burned because they used unauthorized fire in the sacrifices.
In my opinion, it might be good to just say this book tells us about Old Testament sacrifices...and go to the book of Numbers (starting at chapter 11). Chapter 11 starts giving more details about the wilderness travels.

Teaching is not a matter of salesmanship. The power is in the word, not the teacher. The gospel books tell basically the same truths, from different perspectives. Matthew was written so the Jews could understand more easily. Mark is the shortest and most precise gospel. Luke is written to persuade a Roman official. John emphasized the power and compassion of God. Chose one for your study.
You can go through our study of Luke which breaks the book into natural section which makes the study understandable...and provides self-testing through games, etc..

You are to be commended for your desire to teach and do the right thing. It is generally not wise to have a teenager teaching other teenagers without adult supervision. The actions of your new minister is another matter.
We are to have great respect for God. The word reverence is used, which means to humble ourselves in the presence of God. Reverence includes healthy fear because we know the love and wrath of God. Fortunately, God has provided a way to calm His wrath in the Sacrifice of Jesus.
"Since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God."
(II Corinthians 7:1)
The word holy means to be set apart or separated for God's purpose.
"Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our 'God is a consuming fire.'"

"For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life."
(I Thessalonians 4:7)

Although a building itself is not holy, it is made holy when believers gather to worship and praise God. Any place is made holy when we worship. Go to our worship section which is part of our study of how to conduct ourselves in the church. It would be good to study all of our church section to learn what God thinks about the spiritual body of Jesus on earth.
It is good to praise God by enjoying time with our family and friends...but God always comes first.

The reason God brought the Israelites out of Egypt is found it Exodus 2:23-25.
"During that long period, the king of Egypt died. The Israelites groaned in their slavery and cried out, and their cry for help because of their slavery went up to God. God heard their groaning and he remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac and with Jacob. So God looked on the Israelites and was concerned about them."
The wandering was punishment for the Israelite's lack of faith and disobedience. Not one man over the age of 20 would go into the promised land. (Numbers 13 and 14) The wandering highlighted the love and patience of God...because the Israelites were constantly sinful and rebellious.

Could you please give me some suggestions on teaching third and fourth graders about King Saul which we will be studying I Samuel 18:8-16, 19:9,10 and 20:1-34. Any help would be very helpful. I'm at a standstill. Our topic will be Real Life. I want to talk about dealing with my feelings in ways that please God.
At first Saul was faithful to God. He began thinking too highly of himself and God rejected him as king. (I Samuel 15:26) In 1 Samuel 16:16, the Spirt of God left Saul. From that point on Saul became a wicked, jealous king who wanted to kill David.
In I Samuel 19, the Spirit of God was absent so an evil spirit entered Saul and in a fit or rage and jealousy Saul tried to kill David.
In chapter 20 Saul's rage became a part of the friendship between David and Jonathan. Jonathan helped David escape the wrath of Saul.
Without the Spirit of God, people do strange and dangerous things.
Please explain Proverbs 15:1: "A gentle answer turns away anger, but a harsh word stirs up wrath."
When one is in a tense situation, it is always best to react calmly. Harsh, angry words just make things worse.

I do not know the age of your children or how much they know. 
If they are familiar with the Old Testament, it would be good to start with our study of the book of Luke. Each chapter is broken up into several sections. Take one section and work through the study systematically...on a daily basis. Use the puzzles and other resources to test their learning.
If your children do not know the Old Testament stories, start with the book of Genesis and follow the same plan. Genesis is an exciting book that provides the basis for God's creation and plan for us.

This is a difficult task for such a wide age span.
Prosperity means a lot of different things to believers. Some teach the prosperity gospel which tells us that if we believe, God will make us rich in worldly things. This is not true!

How to teach children about stewardship?
Stewardship is a fancy name for taking caring of what God has given. The best singular example of the teaching of Jesus is the parable of the talents found in Matthew 25. The application is easy to understand. God is not concerned about how much we have...he is concerned with how we use what we have.
Giving is a very important part of the stewardship issue. God does promise that he will reward believers for generous giving, but the emphasis is not the personal reward...it is on the privilege of abounding in good works.
"And now, brothers, we want you to know about the grace that God has given the Macedonian churches. Out of the most severe trial, their overflowing joy and their extreme poverty welled up in rich generosity. For I testify that they gave as much as they were able, and even beyond their ability. Entirely on their own, they urgently pleaded with us for the privilege of sharing in this service to the saints."

This would be an exhausting task. The whole Israelite nation is part of Abraham's family tree. After the 12 tribes of Israel, specific genealogy does not seem to be very important...except the family of Jesus. Go to Matthew 1 and Luke 3 for the genealogy that is important to the Holy Spirit.

There is no better way than to read and comment on the actual text. (Genesis 12) There are brief stories about Sarah like in Genesis 18, but the rest of the story is mostly about Abraham.

I give Sunday school classes to kids from 6-12 years old and every week I have to talk about a different fruit of the Spirit, but I'm only 13, so I don't know much about goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Can you help me please?
Most adults do not know about these things! Since you have been assigned the responsibility of teaching, the best thing I can do is help you get the tools you need to do the job right. You may have some of these resources in your church library. 
1. You need to use an easy to understand Bible. The New International, New American Standard and some other translations are good. Be very careful with the modern versions. Most of them are not translations, they are transliterations (opinions about what the Bible says).
2. You need a concordance. Young's Analytical Concordance of the Bible is good. There are other good concordances. A concordance just gives you a list of the verses that include a specific Bible word. Biblegateway.com is an on-line Bible Concordance.
3. You need a good Bible dictionary. A Greek/English dictionary like Vine's Expository Dictionary of New Testament Words would be good. 
This will help:
Goodness- The idea of living like God...having the characteristics of God. 
Faithfulness- This is not just believing...it is the idea of trusting God and obeying what he says.
Gentleness- Fair, kind, moderate, patient, forebearing (holding back or delaying punishment).
Self-control- Disciplined

The best way I know is to study the stories of the Bible. Start with the Old Testament stories. Always work directly from the Bible. Do not rely on what others say about the Bible stories.

Ideas on explaining Leviticus 1:1-13 to children.
This is bloody and gory, but it is a sacrifice for sin...and sin is ugly. Animal sacrifices were part of Bible history since the beginning. Cain's sacrifice was not pleasing to God. (Genesis 4) The Bible does not say whether it was what he offered, or how he offered the sacrifice that God did not like. God  has always told his people how to sacrifice. What he does is his business.
Old testament sacrifices were God's way of showing the people that sin was so bad that a sacrifice of blood was necessary for purification. But the blood of animals was not sufficient.
If you will study Hebrews 8 and 9, it will give you insight into the difference between the sacrifice of animals and the sacrifice of Jesus.
This is a deep subject that most younger children will not understand...and many adults do not understand.

This is the story of the selection of a wife for Isaac. Abraham did not want Isaac to have a wife from the Canaanites. I cannot provide a better story than the actual text.

This is a contrast between what the world offers and what Jesus offers. I do not know what age you are teaching, but the story is in the text...selfish children expecting others to do what they ask, and innocent children who understand the message of peace and help.
The yoke is put on an ox to make it easier to pull or carry a load. Picture the yoke with a  place for two pullers. I am on one side, Jesus is on the other. Who do you think is pulling most of the weight?

Ask a friend to help you. If you have a large group, ask more than one friend to help.
Know your material well. Have more material prepared than you have time to teach. Start with the most important issues.
Break your lesson up in 10 minute segments.
Use as many visuals as possible. The attention span at this age is short.
Don't get frustrated. Expect youngsters to be youngster.

I was asked to do a children's Bible study at a church plant I am helping out in and I don't know what to do.
It depends on the ages of the children. If they are middle school children it would be good to show them what the Bible is all about...in a condensed version. It is a collection of 66 books written over 1,500 to 1,600 years. It is divided into two major sections, the Old and New Testament, etc. When Jesus died, the Old Testament was taken away and the sacrifice of Jesus was the way to salvation.

You can show them the Bible is the story of the coming of Jesus to save the world...starting from Genesis (3:15) and ending with the birth and life of Jesus.

Even the bad things in the Bible are told in the context of the overall good news of the plan of God to save the world.

It is important to teach young children the details of the stories of the Bible (Adam, Noah, the Tower of Babel, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Moses. Jesus, etc.) 
When children get older it is easier to apply deeper spiritual issues like love, faith, obedience, etc. through the details they have learned.
