Suggested Activities |
|
1.
Talk about the seasons and show
pictures. Talk about different types of weather (snow, rain, wind,
sunshine, etc.) |
|
2.
Bring different items of clothing
(toboggan, gloves, swimming shorts, sunglasses, swimming goggles, rain
coat or umbrella, heavy winter coat, etc.) and dress up one child at a
time. Let the other children guess what kind of weather the child is
prepared for. Tell the children that God made the seasons, and He has
promised to keep the seasons going. |
|
3.
Talk about how different types of
weather help plants to grow, sunshine and rain, and how winter gives
trees and plants a time to rest and get ready to bud and bloom in
spring. Bring or draw a picture of a tree in each of the seasons.
Bring a small plant in a pot to class. Water the plant using a cup
held up behind a simple paper cloud covered with cotton balls and hold
up a paper sun to show what the plant needs in order to grow. |
|
4.
Cut out brown construction paper in
shape of a simple ark for each child. Let the child put animal
stickers and eight tiny smiley face stickers on the ark. Write on the
ark, "God sent the flood!" |
|
5.
Draw a simple rainbow on butcher
paper and have the children help you color or paint it. |
|
6.
Before class, make a large simple
poster board cloud with lengths of light blue yarn hanging from it.
Role play Noah’s ark by putting chairs together to make an ark. Let
the children pretend to hammer and build it. Then let the children be
Noah and his family. Bring them on to the ark with stuffed animals,
small plastic toy animals, or pictures of animals. Hold the cloud over
the ark and shake to represent rain. After having them sit on the ark
for a couple of minutes let them come off. Hold the rainbow they made
up in the air over them. Tell the children about God’s rainbow
promise. |
