1. Light a candle and talk about
how powerful fire is. Ask the children how people use fire. Tell them
that God is more powerful than fire. Be sure to keep the candle out of
range of small hands. 2.
Give each child a piece of white paper and have him or her color or
paint orange, red, and yellow flames to represent the furnace. Make
people by bending pipe cleaners.. Let each child glue 4 pipe cleaner
people to his furnace. Instead of making pipe cleaner people, you
could let the children sponge paint four people in the flames using a
person shaped sponge and dark paint.
3. Talk about situations in
which children have to choose to obey God even when others do not.
Relate obedience to God with obedience to parents.
4. Have the children practice
saying Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. Then draw an upside down
triangle for an ice cream cone on the chalkboard or marker board..
Tell the children they are going to see how many scoops of ice cream
they can earn. For each child who can repeat the names correctly after
you, add a scoop. Just for fun, let each child have several turns
until your ice cream cone reaches the top of the board. It is fun to
use colored chalk or markers.. Be sure to make the cone fairly small
at the bottom of the board so there will be room to build.
5. Have the children create a
class poster. Before class make four smiley faces four inches in
diameter from construction paper, one yellow and three brown or
manila. Let the children randomly sponge paint red, yellow, and orange
paint on a white poster board. Then have the children help you glue
the four smiley faces in the fire. |
