Concept:
Who is God? God is all-powerful!
God
controls nature!
Bible Lesson:
Daniel and the Lions (Daniel 6)
Application: God has power over
all creation!
Suggested Activities
1. Show pictures of various wild
animals that are dangerous to man and show toy figures of such
animals. Have the children pretend to be a tiger, a snake, a spider, a
bear, etc.
2. Have children make lion
puppets with paper lunch bags or socks. Glue with tacky glue yarn for
the mane, ears of paper or felt, wiggly craft eyes or eyes cut out of
paper, whiskers made of black paper, and a felt, button, or paper
nose.
3. Use the puppets to role-play
the story of Daniel. Place a sheet over a table to represent a cave.
Let a couple of the children take their puppets in the cave and be the
lions. Then put a paper crown on one child and let him or her be the
king. Finally, choose another child to be Daniel. If you have enough
children, some may be the bad guys that spy on Daniel.
4. Talk about things that may
frighten the children and let them tell you things that frighten them.
Then tell them next time they are afraid to remember that God is
all-powerful and is watching over them.
5. On butcher paper write in
large letters, "God is powerful!" Then have the children draw
dangerous animals all around the words to show that God has power over
everything. Don’t worry if the pictures do not look much like animals!
