Suggested Activities |
|
1. Bring the visual aids you used
for the previous eight lessons, and let the children retell the
stories. |
|
2. Play Bible Who Am I by giving
clues to one character that has been studied in these two concepts and
letting the children guess who you are. |
|
3. Choose a simple puzzle with
under 15 pieces. Ask review questions about the stories. Every time a
child answers correctly, he gets to put a piece of the puzzle in until
the puzzle is completed. |
4. Teach the children this chant
and the motions:
God is big! God is strong! (Stretch high, then make fists and
show muscles)
He watches over me all day long! (Put hand above eyes as if
shading them)
He made the stars I see at night! (Point up)
He made the sun to give us light! (Put hands over head to form
a circle with arms)
My God can do anything! (Put hands out to the sides palms up)
He makes me happy, He makes me
sing! (Put fingers to sides
of mouth as you smile) |
|
5. Tell the children you are
going to see how strong they are. Ask how many can pick up their
chairs all by themselves. Let them try. See how many can do a push-up.
Have them try to lift a stack of 3 or 4 big books, like songbooks or
encyclopedias. Talk about what a strong group of children they are.
Then ask them to push on the wall and move it. Talk about how some
things are impossible for people. We may be strong, but there are many
things we cannot do. God is much stronger. He can do anything. |
|
6. Have the children make a class
flag. Cut a piece of wide colored butcher paper in the shape of a long
triangle. Write the words, "God is strong!" on the flag. Then let the
children decorate around the words by adding sequins, glitter glue,
sponge paint shapes, stickers, or whatever other craft supplies you
can bring. Hang the flag in the room or outside the door. |
|
7. Let the children choose from
an assortment of color pages relating to the previous lessons and
color. |
|
Memory |
|
Have
the children quote all the previous memory verses. Give them the first
couple of words of each verse to get them started. Give a small prize
to everyone who can remember them all. |
