Could it happen by chance?

Was sight the result of critters needing to see?
Which came first...the need for sight, or the ability to see.
How did the first critter who needed to see develop the ability to see...before it died?
How did the ability to see happen in all the critters at the same time?

Was smell necessary for survival?
The skunk uses a really stinky smell for self-defense. Would the first skunks without the stink survive long enough to develop a stink? If they were doing well without the stink, why would they need to stink?

Which came first...sound, or the need for sound?
Some critters have no ears and no need for sound. Sound had to be around before any critter could use it. How did all the critters develop the ability to use something as complex as sound...at the same time.

Which came first, taste or the need for taste?
Taste makes a meal good or yuuucky. Because the Monarch Butterfly tastes really bad, butterfly eaters don't eat them...so they survive.
If the Monarch did not have a bad taste, we could not enjoy its
beauty.
