Sabbath
|
|
The physical Sabbath is an Old
Testament day...the seventh day of the week. (Exodus 20:6-11)
|
The Old
Testament law was taken away when Jesus established His kingdom.
"By calling this covenant
"new," he has made the first one obsolete; and what
is obsolete and aging will soon disappear."
(Hebrews 8:13)
|
Jesus was raised from the dead on the first day
of the week.
(John 20:1) |
|
Christians meet on the 1st day of the
week to worship and remember the sacrifice of Jesus. (Acts 20:7) |
The 1st day
is not the Christian Sabbath.
It is a good thing to rest one day a
week, but there is no physical New Testament Sabbath. There is no
harm in resting on Saturday, but we have no right to demand that
others observe the Sabbath.
