Debate is necessary!
"This
brought Paul and Barnabas into sharp dispute and debate with
them."
(Acts 15:2)
The debate was whether keeping
part of the Mosaic Law was needed for salvation.
Why
was a group sent to Jerusalem?
"So
Paul and Barnabas were appointed, along with some other believers, to
go up to Jerusalem to see the apostles and elders about this question."
Later, we will find
out the apostles agreed with Paul and Barnabas.
On the
way to Jerusalem (through Phoenicia and Samaria) Paul and Barnabas
reported the good news of what had happened to the Gentiles.
"This
news made all the brothers glad"
(Verse 3b)
