The team sailed to Assos. 
Assos was about 15-20 miles from Troas. Remember, there were no cars, buses or motor boats.

Paul decided to walk!

The text does not tell us why Paul decided to walk. It could have been that he just needed some time alone to meditate and pray.

"I remember the days of long ago; I meditate on all your works and consider what your hands have done."
(Psalms 143:5)
