FLOOD LEGENDS

The story of the world-wide flood that happened some time in the past is fascinating, frustrating to unbelievers and encouraging to believers. Some would have us believe the story is only legend.

It is interesting that many ancient civilizations (China, Babylonia, Wales, Russia, India, America, Hawaii, Scandinavia, Sumatra, Peru, and Polynesia) had versions of a giant flood. The Babylonians had an account much like the Bible story. The main difference was references to many gods instead of the one God of the Bible.

There is a huge amount of scientific evidence from all over the world that proves there was a very large flood. This flood was so powerful that in some places it left silt deposits several hundred feet thick. Mammoths were frozen so quickly that food was still in their stomachs and blood in their veins. The blood shows these huge animals suffocated or drowned.

Some would like us to believe that Moses (the writer of Genesis) just repeated the legends of earlier civilizations. Since many civilizations had flood stories, it makes sense that they would come from one common historical event. The Bible, legends and science all seem to say the same thing...there was a huge flood.

The Bible is the only flood record that describes the details in a sensible, believable way.
