The sun moon and stars were made to give light, regulate the days and separate light from darkness. It sounds like God put some more scientific laws in place because the sun was to rule the day and the moon would rule the night.

But the puzzle is still not together. We have light, darkness, land, water, plants, sun, moon and stars. The most important creation is coming on the sixth day.
