"Because
you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those
who have not seen and yet have believed."
(20:29)
Sometimes we apply this to
modern day responses to Jesus, but it is written in the
present tense. Jesus is suggesting some in that time who had not seen the
resurrected Jesus...believed because of the testimony of the
eye-witnesses.
"Jesus did
many other miraculous signs in the presence of his disciples, which are
not recorded in this book. But these are written that you may believe
that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you
may have life in his name."
(20:30,31)
We are not expected to
have blind faith. John has presented plenty of reliable evidence.
