Jesus asked an interesting question to a
paralyzed man. "Do
you really want to be well?"
He had tried to get into the
Pool of Bethesda, but others got in
my way!
(The Jews believe when the water in this pool moved it
had miraculous powers to heal.)
"Get up, take up your mat and walk."
He got up immediately and
carried his mat away!
Read the text! (5:1-9)
1. The man was one in
a crowd of sick and crippled people.
2. He might have been able to move some because he tried to get into
the pool.
3. He had been crippled for 38 years.
4. Someone brought him to the pool, but he had no help to get into the
pool.
5. Some believe he was just a pathetic cripple. Does the text suggest
this?
5. He did not ask for help...Jesus picked him out of the crowd.
6. Why did Jesus heal only one man? There is a hint in
John
20:30,31.
7. The man did not know who healed him.
