Danites were looking for a home!

The tribe of Dan was given their portion of the Promised Land in Joshua 19:40-48.
They were in the list of tribes that did not drive out the Canaanites. (Judges 1:34)
It has been over 2 hundred years since the land was divided.

The Danites sent out spies.
As they were going through the hill country of Ephraim they came to the house of Micah. They recognize the Levite priest of Micah.

They were curious and asked:

Who brought you here? What are you doing here?

The young priest told them God was with them, so they went on to Laish where the people were content and the land was good.
The spies went home and encouraged the Danites to take over the land of Laish.

Six hundred armed men were sent to take the land.

When they went through the hill country of Ephraim, they stopped at the house of Micah. They took the ephod, the carved images and cast idol. While they were at it, they convinced the young Levite to become their clan priest.
When Micah went after them, they just told him to be careful, he might get  hurt.
When they arrived in Laish, they attacked the people and burned their city.
They built the city of Dan and used the idols Micah had made

Even people who claim to be the people of God, do whatever is right in their own eyes...they do some strange things.
