The men of Judah (Israelites) came to tie up Samson and give him to the Philistines.
Samson agreed...on one
condition:
The men of Judah would not kill him themselves!
He let them tie him up with 2 new ropes.
When the Philistines came to get him,
the Spirit of the Lord came on
Samson and he easily broke the ropes.
"Finding a
fresh jawbone of a donkey, he grabbed it and struck down a thousand men.
Then Samson said,
'With a donkey's jawbone I have made donkeys of them. With a
donkey's jawbone I have killed a
thousand men.'"
(Judges 15:15,16)
God was using the personality
of Samson!
"His parents did not know that
this was from the Lord, who was seeking an occasion to confront the
Philistines; for at that time they were ruling over Israel."
(Judges 14:4)
