Who is Jephthah?

His father was Gilead, from the city of Gilead.
His mother was a prostitute.
He was driven away by the other sons of Gilead.
He had no inheritance.
He ran away and settled in Tob.
He became the leader of a group of adventurers in Tob.

He was a mighty warrior.
When the Ammonites made war on Israel, the elders of the city of Gilead went to Jephthah. They wanted him to help them our of their trouble.

You hate me! Why are you here now?

So! Help us anyway!

If I God gives me the victory, will I really be your head?

As God is our witness, we will certainly do as you ask.

Jephthah went with them!

They did what they promised!

Jephthah talked to God about all this.
