The Purpose of the book of Judges
"For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope."
(Romans 15:4)

Major Concept

Application of the Law of Blessing and Cursing
(Deuteronomy 28)
"All these blessings will come upon you and accompany you if you obey the Lord your God..." (v. 2)
"However, if you do not obey the Lord your God and do not carefully follow all his commands and decrees I am giving you today, all these curses will come upon you and overtake you..."
(v. 15)

Teacher Focus

God is the only king of Israel

1.The Promised Land of Israel was a gift from God.
2. God told Israel to drive out the Canaanites and possess the land. He also made it clear they were not to intermarry with or have anything to do with the idols of His enemies.
3. The people in Canaan were enemies of God who had been been given hundreds of years to repent. God's wrath on the Canaanites was because of their wickedness.
4. God promised Israel blessings...if they continued to obey Him.
5. God warned them of the consequences of disobedience.
5. God uses all kinds of people.
6. God encourages His chosen servants.
