Uncle Noah Life Stories and Parables
Devotional and Meditation Thoughts

The bug was hanging on with every once of strength it had. This valiant bug's wings were taking a serious beating as the wind whipped them violently. One had to admire the incredible design and instinctive desire of this dumb little critter.
There were no advantages for this bug to hang on. The ride was far from pleasant, and there was no food for the trip. There were no other bugs around for friendly conversation.

One could not imagine this bug enjoying this fast, dangerous ride through the city streets. And, to beat it all, this bug was being taken to a place it did not know and surely did not care to go. It was a total waste of valuable bug energy...in a senseless, useless activity.
When the car stopped, this bug let go of the window and flew away... exhausted but successful. It had proven its tenacity and toughness.
It was difficult to keep my eyes on the road as this serious drama in bugdom unfolded. It was serious business to the bug...but almost comical to the audience of one. The only redeeming value to this episode in the life of one bug is that we can learn a valuable lesson about hanging on when we should be letting go.

Application
Tenacity is an excellent quality. Ignorant tenacity is another matter. Our bug friend was holding on to something that made no sense in his life, was dangerous and left him exhausted...easy prey for critters who would eat bugs.
"God 'will give to each person according to what he has done.' To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life. But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger."
(Romans 2:6-8)
