and Meditation Thoughts
A young camel came
to a wise old mountain goat and said..."I have come to give
some constructive criticism and advice. I have observed you do not
do things that conform to the reality of our world. In the interest
of progress, harmony and tranquility, you need to make some
changes."
The wise old goat bristled inside, but responded
with a smile. After thinking for a minute, he agreed to listen to
the camel, but suggested they climb the mountain together.
There was a special place on the
mountain that would be a perfect place for an open, sincere
discussion of the realities of life.
The camel nervously looked at the massive
mountain with cliffs that seemed to go straight into heaven itself.
He was familiar with desert ways, but knew nothing about mountains.
But, he was on a mission of mercy, so he agreed to climb the
mountain.
The mountain goat and camel were roped together
for safely purposes as they started this eventful climb. The old
goat was designed to climb, so the rope was mainly for the benefit
of the inexperienced camel. But, if they were to get to the summit,
they would have to work together.
As they climbed, they learned to depend on each
other...and the rope between them prevented disaster after disaster.
As they came closer to the summit, differences became unimportant.
The camel began to appreciate the old mountain goat. The touch of
resentment caused by the camel's haughty spirit began to vanished as
the old goat saw the heart and determination of the camel.
Application As they sat on the
summit of this majestic mountain, there was an incredible calm. The
spirit of the critic and the criticized had been lost somewhere in
the wonder of the difficult climb...together.
