Uncle Noah Life Stories and Parables
Devotional and Meditation Thoughts

He sat in a coffee shop telling about how he had just finished supervising the construction of a church building in another country. He was a powerful young man with bulging muscles and a smiling way.
He had a mischievous grin as he told of raising thousands of dollars when the economy was weak and people told him it could not be done. He was sober as he described criticism from fellow workers and misunderstanding from outsiders when he refused to accept inferior workmanship.

He had a special gleam in his eyes as he told of going on the construction site and finding crooked walls. The brick-layers were shocked, and less than happy, when he walked over and pushed the walls down...because they were not built right. The workers did it right...the second time.
When he finished his inspiring story of victory, he made one statement that was not at all unusual, but troubling. He said...The building was finished right, in spite of the trouble.

Application
This unique young man had accomplished a seemingly impossible job...and still did not understand what had happened. He did not understand that the building would not have been right without the pushing. It would not have been built at all...without the struggle.
This young man had temporarily misplace an idea he knew well...worthwhile things always take extraordinary, courageous effort. Some walls must be pushed down, or all walls will fall down.
Without the struggle for excellence, there is no excellence.
