and Meditation Thoughts
It was supposed to be weed-chopping time. But, like many eleven year
old farm boys, our hero had temporarily lost his passion for the work ethic.
It was hot! Everyone knows hot time is not work time. So, with trusty hoe in hand, he began diligently looking for an appropriate watering hole...big enough for all of him.
He knew snakes could be lurking in the weeds around his watering hole. But snakes were no problem for
our brave, hard-working young hero.
All of a sudden, he was startled by a brief glimpse of a huge, monster-snake. It was at least
six feet long and intent on causing bodily harm to an innocent young man. Under such trying circumstances, the only logical thing to do was attack.
Our young hero's trusty hoe turned a good sized area into a shredded weed and chopped snake salad...in record time.
When it was over, the huge killer-snake was an eighteen-inch gopher snake...going the other direction.
Application
Life is full of imaginary monster-snakes. Being aware of reality changes how we react to the things around us. The obstacle of being a person of character are seldom as monstrous as
our inflated pictures of imaginary monster snakes.
"For you did not receive a spirit
that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit
of sonship. And by him we cry, "Abba, Father."
