The
Temptations of Jesus Were Real!
Luke 4:1-13 |
|
If
Jesus was not really tempted, his example would mean nothing because
the New Testament writers said his temptations were real. |
|
Temptation 1
Jesus was
very hungry, and food was very tempting.
"If you are the Son of God, tell this stone to
become bread"
|
|
Jesus' Answer
"It is written, ‘Man does not live by bread
alone’."
Deuteronomy 8:3
|
|
In Deuteronomy 8,
God humbled the Israelites to teach them that people do not live by
food only, but on every word that comes out of the mouth of God. |
|
We
do not know why this was such a strong temptation for Jesus. Most
people think it was the desire of human appetites (hunger, thirst,
etc.). We do know Jesus knew Satan is a deceiver, up to no good and
any suggestion he makes should be challenged! |
